After the Conqueror Cross Country teams finished 2nd in the Hacienda League, they moved on to compete in the CIF Preliminaries at Reid Park in Riverside on Saturday November 12th. Both the boys & girls teams ran the 3 mile course against 22 other Division 3 teams in their heat.
The girls team finished 14th out of 23 teams. Wednesday Osuna was the Conquerors top female finisher as she ran the course in 19:08, which placed her 21st out of 135 runners. Alyssa Sandoval was the Conquerors next highest finisher at 74th after running the course in 20:33.
The boys team finished 17th out of 23 teams in their heat. Senior Santiago Torres ran the course in 16:23, which placed him 67th of the 147 runners in the heat. Junior Ismael Ojeda finished 93rd after running a 16:54.
Both of the Varsity Cross Country teams finished 2nd in the Hacienda League standings this season. Wednesday Osuna, Santiago Torres and Ismael Ojeda were awarded All-League honors for their efforts this fall. Next season looks promising as both teams graduate only a few runners and return some impressive underclassmen.
