On Friday, five more Conquerors committed to continuing their careers at the next level. This brings the total number of seniors student-athletes committing to playing collegiately to 15 in the class of 2017. The students that made their college commitments on Friday were Kaitlyn Iwamoto, Patti Delgadillo, Juan Lomeli, Gabriel Estrada, and Sophia Moriel.
The Conqueror Girls Volleyball Program will be sending two of its finest off to play at the next level. Kaitlyn Iwamoto & Patti Delgadillo were key members of the league championship volleyball squad and both have decided to continue to play after high school.
Kaitlyn and was named the Hacienda League MVP, Academic All-League and also made 1st Team All-CIF. Kaitlyn has decided to continue her career at Cal State University, Stanislaus. Iwamoto is sure to be a contributor given her work ethic and leadership on the floor. Stanislaus is located in the Northern California city of Turlock. The Warriors compete in the NCAA Division 2 California Collegiate Athletics Association.
Patti Delgadillo has decided to travel to Kansas to play collegiately at Sterling College. Patti was an All-League performer for the volleyball team and an integral part of their league championship season. Patti’s net presence and attacking skills will be a welcome addition to the Warriors program. Sterling College is a private university that competes in the NAIA’s Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Gabriel Estrada & Juan Lomeli will be playing football on Saturdays next fall as the key members of the Conqueror offensive line have both decided to compete close to home in the SCIAC. Conqueror Football experienced enormous success this season in large part because of the dominance of the offensive line and Gabriel and Juan were key members of that. Estrada was the decision maker on the line from his Center position, calling out protections and making sure all were doing their jobs en route to earning 1st Team All-League honors. Lomeli was a huge force at Guard, providing the necessary protection and blowing open holes for the running game while earning 2nd Team All-League honors. Gabriel will be playing at Whittier next season and Juan will be at La Verne.
Sophia Moriel will be continuing her water polo career at Cal State University, Monterey Bay. In addition to being a member of the 2015 CIF Championship Team and multi-year league champion, Sophia is an All-League performer. Sophia will be a welcome addition to the Monterey Bay program.
