Multiple Teams · Baseball Wins Wild Card Game

The baseball season has been a tale of two streaks for the Conquerors.  At one point this season the team rattled off 7 straight wins, and 6 straight in league to take control of the Hacienda League. That win streak was followed by a series of close losses that ended with the team losing 8 straight and finishing in 3rd place in league.  The boys hope their current streak continues as they are currently on a 3 game win streak after beating Diamond Ranch twice to wrap up the regular season and taking care of business on Tuesday against Knight in a Division 4 CIF Wild Card Game.

The 3rd place finish in league was good enough to get the Conquerors an automatic playoff spot, but forced the Conquerors on the road to take on Pete Knight High School in Palmdale for the second time this season. The Conquerors defeated Knight 5-0 in the Frozen Ropes Tournament during the 2nd week of the season. Tuesday was much of the same as the Conqs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. After breaking the game open with 4 runs in the 5th inning and scoring 3 more in the 6th, the team gave senior ace Sam Gomez all the support he needed as he cruised to a complete game victory with 9 strikeouts. The Conquerors sticks were hot as 7 starters recorded hits including Christian Vargas and Nico Santiago who drove in 2 runs a piece.  The 8-3 victory over Knight puts Los Altos up against a formidable foe on Thursday.  The Conquerors will have to travel to Grand Terrace to take on the #2 seed in Division 4, a team that has only 2 losses this season.
