Last week, CIF released its Winter Sports Playoff Groupings for the 2018-2019 season. Here’s where the Conquerors will compete when the playoff begin in early 2019.
Boys Basketball has been placed into Division 1 with 39 of the best basketball teams in the Southern Section. The Conquerors are ranked 31 in all of the Southern Section based upon the past 2 seasons records and playoff success. Last season, the Conquerors lost a quarterfinal heart breaker at the buzzer to eventual state champion Crossroads.
Girls Basketball will once again be competing in Division 2-AA. The girls are coming off of their 2nd straight league title and hope to keep that streak going into CIF. Last season, the girls lost a tight ballgame to eventual CIF and State Champion Redondo Union.
Girls Water Polo will be competing in Division 5 this season. No other league foes will be in that division but the Conquerors may meet up with local teams like Cal, Glendora, Chino, Montebello and San Dimas in CIF.
Girls Soccer will compete in CIF Division 4 this season. Much of the Hacienda League is present in the division with Walnut, West Covina and Diamond Ranch and former league foe Chino also competing in Division 4.
Boys Soccer has been moved to Division 6 for the 2018-19 season. They will have some local company as league members Charter Oak, Walnut and West Covina will also be in the division in addition to district schools La Puente and Workman.
The wrestling playoff grouping have yet to be released and are expected to be released on Wednesday after a CIF Council vote. The proposal being voted on would allow wrestling playoff groupings to be calculated using a competitive equity formula similar to that of many other CIF sports. Currently, schools are placed into playoff grouping based on geography.
