The Boys Water Polo team has played well of late, beating Charter Oak in the league opener followed by a strong performance in the Diamond Bar Tournament.  The boys went 3-1 in the tournament finishing in 3rd place.  They beat new league opponent Webb 15-8, a good sign as they will face off again in a couple of weeks in league play.

Last Wednesday, the boys managed to pull off a victory against West Covina. The final score of the game was 14 to 10. It was a tough battle, but Los Altos came to play.

Senior Adrian Sanchez said, “It was a well earned game, because we put 100 percent effort into the game, and we did not quit once or get tired.” Sanchez added, “We as a team kept our heads up high, even though they scored on us, because we couldn’t let it get to our heads, and we just kept playing as best as we can.” Sanchez and the other seniors wants the team to know that it is a team effort, meaning everyone needs to contribute during the game.

Senior Alvin Chen said “For next week we will have to work harder than today, because Walnut is a much more competitive than West Covina.” Chen also added, “Before our next game, we need to practice more on the fundamentals of water polo because we are making careless mistakes that could have been avoided during the game.”

On Wednesday October 10th, Los Altos will take on Walnut.  The Mustangs have been doing well this season, so this is a critical game when it comes to league.  The Conquerors are currently 2-0 in league with 2 more games to play before the league tournament.  Next week the team will also take part in the Nogales Tournament as a tune up for the league tournament.
