Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Girls Soccer Clinches Spot in CIF Playoffs

The Los Altos Girls Soccer team went into Thursday’s season finale in a must-win situation. The Lady Conquerors had a .500 overall record and were in the third spot in league.  CIF grants automatic playoff berths to the top 3 finishers in leagues of 5 or 6 so finishing in the top 3 is crucial.  The girls were facing a West Covina team that was also in the same position. A win for either squad would secure 3rd place and guarantee them a spot in CIF.

The Lady Conquerors were winners of 3 straight league games before tying with Charter Oak. The tie put them in a tough spot heading into the last week of the season. On Tuesday the girls lost a tough 2-1 game to league champ South Hills which set the table for Thursday’s matchup.  On Thursday, the girls came out firing on all cylinders and dominated West Covina 4-1, securing an automatic playoff spot.  The team actually tied with Charter Oak for 2nd place but because of the head to head, Charter Oak finished in 2nd place.  For CIF purposes, Los Altos will head into the Division 4 playoffs as a #2 from the Hacienda League because Charter Oak is in a different division.

The team finished the regular season with a record of 11-10-4 and a league record of 5-4-1.
