Los Altos Boys Basketball had another stellar season that culminated with a fourth-straight league title and a CIF Division 1 playoff victory. The Conquerors finished the season with a 24-6 record, 10-0 in league and those efforts were recognized on Wednesday by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune by celebrating 5 members of the program with All-Area honors.
Jarod Lucas was named Area Player of the Year for the second season in a row. This year was an extra special one for Jarod as he became the CIF Southern Sections all-time leading scorer, etching his name in the record books forever. Coach Jeff Lucas earned his first Area Coach of the Year honor. Coach Lucas has been the leader of one of the most consistent and successful programs in the valley for decades and this honor was well deserved and long over due.
In addition to the Lucas’, three more Conquerors were recognized for their efforts this season. Point guard Isaiah Barcelo and Forward Dion Porter were named All-Area First Team for their efforts on the court. Barcelo was one of the best defenders in the valley and was also a key cog in the engine that was the Los Altos offense. Porter is a lengthy wing player that was solid defensively and knocked down key shots for Conqs all season long. He will be relied upon heavily next season. The fifth Conqueror to earn all-area honors was Matthew Barrera. Barrera was named to the 2nd Team All-Area and was a deadly weapon from 3-point land for the Conquerors. Barrera came up clutch down the stretch for the Conquerors, nailing key jumpers when defenses focused on Lucas.
Congratulations to these 5 Conquerors and the Basketball program as a whole for another amazing season.
